United Airline is not having a good PR week. First, a dead dog in the overhead compartment; now, it’s in hot water after sending a family’s dog bound for Kansas City, Missouri, to Japan instead.

United Airline is in the news again, just after a flight attendant was responsible for the death of a family’s French Bulldog after insisting that the dog travel in the overhead luggage.

Kara Swindle and her two children were flying from Oregon to Kansas City, Missouri on a United flight. When they went to pick up their 10-year-old German Shepherd Irgo, they were dumbfounded as they instead were given a Great Dane. She said that they kept telling her that the paperwork said it was they correct dog, but she clearly knew it was not their family dog.

Turns out the Great Dane was supposed to go to Japan, and instead of Japan, was mistaken with the Swindle Family dog and sent to Kansas City, MO.

Unfortunately for the Swindle family, who just wants to know where their dog is and when he’ll be back, because Irgo inadvertently took an international flight, he may have to be quarantined in Japan for up to two weeks. Swindle says that they just can’t cry anymore and are simply hoping he’ll be back soon and safe.

United says it is investigating the mistake, and will put Irgo on a plane bound back from Japan to Kansas City to his anxious parents. It’s unknown when Irgo will be back on US soil, or what happened to the Great Dane who ended up in Kansas instead of Japan.United said the mix-up happened in Denver when the pets were accidentally switched during connections.
